As Guyana gets ready to celebrate its 60th year as an independent nation, it is with great honour that I welcome you to the International Building Expo 2026, held under the theme “Guyana at 60: Building Strong Foundations for a Sustainable Future.” This milestone moment in our country’s history offers a powerful opportunity to reflect on how far we have come, even as we continue to chart a bold and inclusive path forward.

This year’s exposition is occurring while we prepare to usher in the sixtieth anniversary of our nation’s Independence. It was conceptualised to showcase and support our country's transformative development. The focus is on the rapid growth of our housing programme – geared to meet the needs of our people while also catering for commercial expansion across all sectors of our economy.
